Fully Laced Human Hair Wigs

We offer human hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young adults who have lost all or majority of their natural hair through hair loss conditions.

Each of our U.K based wigmakers takes approximately 60hours to create these hair systems and costs our charity on average £800+ to make.

See our step by step guide on how our wigs are made below.

Raw Hair

As hair extensions and wigs are becoming an A-List trend the demand for raw hair is rising daily. The world simply does not have enough hair donors to keep up with the ever so demanding market.

Our first step in making our wigs is that we check our hair stock, to see if we have any hair donations or used hair extensions that match the child's natural hair colour. If we do not have the length or colour in stock,  then we have to purchase the hair, which can cost the charity hundreds of pounds per wig.

Thank you to our amazing supporters who are cutting these raw hair costs by having the chop for LittleLadyLocks or donating their old hair extensions.

Wig Foundations

Not every child's head is the same size or shape and not every persons hairline is identical to the next.

This is why each of our wig foundations can take up to 6 hours to make to ensure the most realistic look and the best possible fit for our  little ones.

Ventilating

Using a ventilating hook, the wig maker ties strands of hair to the full lace wigs foundation. This creative skill has been around for centuries as master wig makers designed beautiful wigs for kings and queens, public officials, family and friends.

Hair ventilation is the longest timescale of our wig making process, as one hair system can take up to 60 hours to ventilate.

Colouring

Our aim is to provide a wig to the child that closely replicates their natural hair, before they had the hair loss. This means length, texture and colour.

Our colouring experts will colour the human hair wigs as close as possible to the child's natural colour and also add root shadowing effects to ensure the most realistic results.

Wig Fitting

The child/parents have the option to attend a wig fitting appointment in one of our selected wig salons with one of our amazing wig fitters. During the appointment you will be shown how to take the wig on and off and given details on how best to wash and store it.

We understand that some parents may find it hard to attend a face to face appointment. Therefore we have appointments for a video call with one of our dedicated wig fitters, all in the comfort of your own home.

Once the wig fitting has taken place the hair is yours to keep forever.

All of these costs from start to finished are covered by our charity.
